Build-A-Bear Entertainment and Odd Dot, announced today a powerful new content development relationship designed to create and produce a wide offering of books inspired by the vast array of characters and stories associated with the Build-A-Bear brand.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Build-A-Bear,” says Nathalie Le Du, Publisher of Odd Dot. “Their experiential retail locations and hands-on approach to storytelling could not have been a more natural fit for Odd Dot’s expertise in imaginative play, creating one-of-a-kind novelty experiences, and family-friendly activities. The ethos of connection and creativity will be at the core of all the books Odd Dot dreams up with Build-A-Bear.”

Nathalie Le Du at Odd Dot, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, has signed a licensing deal with the World of Eric Carle for a line of books based on the Brown Bear and Friends classics. The inaugural list will include BABY BEAR’S BUSY DAY WITH BROWN BEAR AND FRIENDS, an interactive novelty board book that follows Baby Bear from sunrise to sunset, as well as BEAR HUGS! FROM BROWN BEAR AND FRIENDS, a charming board book that celebrates hugs of all kinds—perfect for Valentine’s Day or any day of the year. Publication is planned for Fall 2023.

The mission of this partnership is to inspire children with unique reading experiences by bringing Odd Dot’s expertise in play, design, and novelty innovations to Eric Carle’s beloved and brilliant artwork.
